Trump Leads Biden, The Havana Hangup, And So Long, Mitch! (Weekly Six 3/3/24)
News! Wow! Incredible!
Hi folks! It’s been a second but I’m back with some news of the week. Let’s get into it!
Trump Leads Biden
A recent New York Times/Siena poll shows Trump beating Biden in a hypothetical matchup, winning 48%-43%. This same poll also found that just 23% of Democratic primary voters are enthusiastic about Joe Biden being their nominee, compared to Trump’s 48% among Republican primary voters.
Here’s my thing. It’s early March - the election is still nine months away. Trump still has his upcoming trials and I frankly think that it hasn’t hit many less-informed voters yet that it’s going to be a Trump-Biden rematch or they truly remember just how much they’re annoyed by Trump’s antics. There’s plenty of time for things to change. But still… you can only see so many bad polls before you’re a bit unnerved.
There seems to be such a disconnect between polling and special election results as well with Democrats doing fairly well still. I’ve seen so many polls with massive shifts in cross-tabs, too. Biden is doing better with older voters but also is somehow free-falling with younger voters?
