Goodbye First Semester Of Grad School! (Free article for everyone!) (Eye Bleach 12/12/23)
We made it!
Goodbye! Goodbye!! Goooooooodbyeeeeee!
This first semester of grad has been a particularly rough one. Beyond a lot of financial and professional strain, there also was just one class in particular that *to put it lightly* kicked my ASS. Incredibly stringent citation/sourcing rules really made what should be a relatively straightforward essay-writing process a whole lot more convoluted.
Don’t do grad school, kids. Not even once. (I’m kidding but also… am I?)
Beside that time-consuming stresspoint, I also interestingly had the best professor of my academic career this same semester. I've learned I've got a pretty good knack for marketing and strategic communications and may pursue it further in the political sphere. This same professor was even the driving force for me to pull the trigger on this blog. If you ever find yourself as an AU student, I recommend 1000x over seeking a class with Prof. Leonard Steinhorn. Just an amazing professor, mentor, and overall person.
Ultimately, we're a quarter way through my grad degree now and hopefully next semester will offer me a bit more professional opportunity and a lot less academic rigor. I need to make them connections, yo!
I’m looking forward to a nice respite back in Indiana with hometown friends and family after an academically restful rest of my week here in DC soon, too. I leave in less than a week! Excited!!
But for now, a beer and some “Adventure Time” while folding laundry will suffice. And some more blogwriting to come too. Woot woot! Hope all you other students get some rest too. :)
